Don't mess with an angel

There was a sweet baby
Many years in the past
Momma would not expect
Baby's saving light to cast
Years of abuse
Crying and shame
Momma couldn't stay
Couldn't finish the game
No one will see Momma's bruises
No one will see her scars
Momma will push it away
And run so very far
The two now all alone
Stronger love there couldn't be
Momma knows baby saved her
Gave her the power to be free
A sweet young woman
Some years down the line
Full of life and joy
Her loving light did shine
Problems did roll in
One after another
The young woman was there
The whole time for mother
No one will see Momma's tears
No one will see her pain and strife
This time she can't push it away
And wants to end her life
The two now all alone
Stronger love there couldn't be
Momma knows baby saved her
Gave her the power to be free
Thank you is surely not enough
Words could never begin to say
The baby girl shined her light
Gave her momma another day
